10.00 THE DESIGN OF NATURAL STONE PAVING


Micheal Heap, CEO of one of the UK's largest stone suppliers CED, will offer thoughts, designs and inspiration to all those looking to freshen up their "tool box" of paving design.

11.00 PAVEMENT DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION - CPD Approved

David Burton, Technical Director of leading mortar manufacturers Stein-Tec, will present an expert guide to the correct specification and design of pavements that will include a review of the newly issued BS7533 parts 7 and 10 and an examination of what the effects of this new standard coming into force are likely to be for the industry.

12.00 PRACTICAL DECORATIVE CONCRETE SOLUTIONS FOR ARCHITECTURAL APPLICATIONS

Colin Dowds, National Specification Manager for Lafarge Aggregates & Concrete UK will investigate commercial concrete solutions colouring plus current methodologies for achieving a variety of final finish textures including a discussion on grinding/polishing,  bush-hammering, imprinting and exposed aggregate finishes.

Concrete mix requirements to obtain consistent finishes for both horizontal and vertical applications will also be examined as will common quality issues and recommended practices against a background of applications from a selection of international projects.

13.00 AN INTRODUCTION TO THE USE OF SEALANTS ON ALL TYPES OF PAVING

What are the pro's and con's? This seminar presented by Michael J. Palin of Adseal, will debunk some old myths and present the modern range of sealing options for the installer and offer insight into the benefits for both the installer and their customer.

14.00 BALANCING PLANTING WITHIN HARD LANDSCAPING SCHEMES

Magda Ibrahim, Greenspace Editor of leading trade publication Horticultural Week will chair a panel of experts that will include Jason Lock, CEO of APL (Association of Professional Landscapers) to discuss how hard landscaping should be balanced with hard landscaping to reflect the increasing concerns in some quarters that hard landscaping is over-specified in certain applications.

15.30 GRASS AND GROUND REINFORCEMENT SOLUTIONS

Top UK manufacturer Boddingtons will take a close look at the various options available to the specifier looking carefully at source control applications within a sustainable urban drainage system (SUDS).
